정선군 청소년 수련관의 주안점은 “YOLO (Youth Open Live Oasis) 아이들과 학생들이 이곳에 와서 어떤 생각을 하고 또 어떤 성장을 마주할까?”이다. 말랑말랑한 아이들의 창의력과 개성 넘치는 표현으로 가득 찬 이 공간은 아이들이 능동적으로 스스로의 가치를 찾는 곳곳에 보물이 숨어있는 그런 놀이터가 된다. 크고 작은 공간 안에 청소년들의 크고 작은 움직임으로 재미있고 북적거리는 문화 플랫폼을 계획하였다. 조형 컨셉으로는 기다란 대지 두 개의 산자락 그 사이를 흐르는 동강. 강줄기는 세차게 내려오다 얇은 길을 만들기도 하고 어느 한편에는 고이기도 하며 둔 턱을 모두 뒤덮는다. 정선군 청소년수련관에는 이러한 정선의 건강한 자연을 담고자 하였다. 경직된 도시에 역동적이고 생동감 넘치는 수련관으로서 새로운 아이콘으로 자리매김하도록 하였다. 울창한 나무숲 정선의 청정자연 속에서 알 수 없는 그들만의 세계를 창작하고 다시 미래의 새로운 세계를 창조하고 만들어갈 아이들의 진정한 “YOLO CENTER”가 되길 기대한다.
